Obama has shown the ignorance and naivety of his promise to meet tyrants like Admedinejad by continually morphing his position. It's obvious he is clueless in regard to many aspects of foreign affairs. A trip to visit Mahmoud would give him a taste of just how the world feels about meetings with this tyrant and let him discover Admedinejad will disrespect him.
And, please, take Michelle! She probably has more to learn, if that's possible. She could then realize it's not America that's really mean, it's places like Iran - places that Barack wants to elevate.
"Respect for basic human rights in Iran, especially freedom of expression and assembly, continued to deteriorate in 2007. The government of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad routinely detains people solely for peacefully exercising their rights to freedom of expression and association, and regularly tortures and mistreats those detained."
There can be no mistake. Barack Obama was married, had his children baptizied, and took his family for years to Trinity - a church where perversion and hate is not only tolerated, but met with standing ovations.
The recent incident with Michael Pfleger is just further proof of what has been obvious for those that care to see it. Trinity is a house of rage, not love, and racism, not reconciliation.
The adoring reaction to Pfleger's racist rant and Wright's Goddamning of America, as well as his dry humping the pulpit, proves the perversion at Trinity is sytemic and celebrated.
I wouldn't waste all the bandwidth I could use to demonstrate the ignorance of George W. Bush. Beyond simple gaffes, he mangles words and makes remarks that clearly demonstrate a lack of vital knowledge for a man in his position. It's so bad, some have suggested he's dyslexic. Bottom line, I've never considered the guy very bright.
His supporters have countered to me he is an Ivy League man, a Yale grad. Admittedly, that casts some doubt on the conclusion Bush is dim. But I hold to that conclusion. Intellegence is a contraversial and tough thing to measure. To me, it's the retaining of information, processing and communicating it, and grasping concepts. Bush doesn't seem to do that well.
The same is true about Barack Obama. A Harvard man, yes. But he's provided more than enough glimpses into his ignorance. Just lately, it's become obvious he couldn't answer some questions he ought to. What country liberated Auschwitz? What people do we honor on Memorial Day? With which of our enemies in World War II did FDR meet? Obama knows none of this, at least not until recently. It's obvious he often doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.
I'm confident peppering him with a dozen or two such questions would leave him a puddle of blinks and uhhh's.
Obama is uncertain and halting in his speaking when not reading from a teleprompter. He'll 'uhhhh' several times in a sentence, searching for the simplest of words. As much as many want to believe otherwise, he's not very bright.
He is as intellectually challenged as Bush, but he is at least a progressive. Should he be elected, I fear he'll do for liberalism what Bush did for conservatism and set black Americans back a generation.
And, like Bush, he'd do it all with his Ivy League education.
"I had a uncle who was one of the, who was part of the first American troops to go into Auschwitz and liberate the concentration camps," Obama said.
Much has been written and said about this comment. The Obama camp quickly corrected the statement. It was a great uncle and the camp liberated was Buchenwald, not Auschwitz.
At first blush, the mistakes seem innocent enough, and there was no intention to deceive. I have no quarrel with referring to a great uncle as an uncle. But for anyone with a reasonable grounding in history, it is surprising, even stunning, that Obama could think American troops liberated Auschwitz.
Here is Obama's prepared remark...
"On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes, our sense of patriotism is particularly strong."
But here is what he actually said, apparently ad libbing...
"On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes -- and I see many of them in the audience here today -- our sense of patriotism is particularly strong."
This has been written off as gaffe, but why did he acknowledge people in the audience when specifically talking about who we honor on Memorial Day?
On this Memorial Day, I would like to convey my gratitude and respect to Senator John McCain.
We disagree on a great deal politically. His overly aggressive foreign policy and somewhat wavering support of the Bush tax cuts are two big issues that come immediately to mind. These issues and others make it difficult for me to contemplate voting for him.
But if anyone has earned the right to respectful consideration of thier offer of service as Commander in Chief, it's John McCain. He paid a huge price for this country.
The continuing flaps over Michelle Obama's troubling comments led Barack Obama to make a 'lay off my wife' kind of threat. But the reason her rants cause so much concern is simple - it looks like she's in charge and no one can reel her in.
Whether she's being unpatriotic, angry, or unhinged, the hits just keep on coming. And her continually unckecked rhetoric shows not only her grave flaws, but the inabilty of Barack or the campaign to tone her down.
Compounding the electorate's unease is simply the appearance Michelle is the head of the Obama household and she would play too major a role in the administration. Seeing the two together in an interview underscores this. Barack is soft spoken and laid back while the lantern jawed Michelle often interrupts and flashes angry eyes, making her bitterness at the country too transparent.
When I began to pick up pieces of the 'assassination' comment controversy yesterday, the entire flap didn't make sense to me, simply because the term 'assassination' wouldn't apply to Barack Obama and it's impossible to consider him on a plane with RFK.
To paraphrase a bit, I remember Robert Kennedy, I admired Robert Kennedy, and Barack Obama is no Robert Kennedy. The spectacle of his supporters up in arms over a comment that clearly bears no resemblance to him again illustrates the Messiah-type delusions that are woven into the fabric of this phenomenon.
The term assassination is traditionally applied to figues of great substance and accomplishment. Obama is a first term senator that has spent much of that time running for president. To call his resume thin is kind, to call his character and associations troubling is common sense. It's my hope the Pokemon-type fascination with him will fade quickly.
